Elton John is a British singer, pianist and composer who was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on 25 March 1947 in Pinner, Middlesex. He started playing the piano at the early age of four and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at the age of 11. He has sold over 300 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He has collaborated with lyricist Bernie Taupin since 1967. He has won five Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, and a Disney Legends award.
